Gunner "fixing it"

i'm posting twice in weeks time... could it be?...

just thought i would toss out a few pictures. some of hunting this weekend and some from just over the last month or so.
gunner had fun with all the deer hunting this weekend- won't be long and he'll be out there with us! he was even in on gutting grandpa's and uncle jared's deer- which were both done by jesse i might add! he was definately into the gutt'n thing- which i really wasn't really worried that he wouldn't be- but glad to know it really didn't bother him- we told him "daddy's taking its belly out"- which is kinda sick to tell a kid- but how else do you make it make sense? either way all he really cared about was the part where the deer pooped- what that really means is that jesse popped the guts and it was a hugh mess- but i guess it was entertaining to gunner. grandma marcy was a little concerned about him watching but was good with it when he didn't run away crying or anything- i think really she was too sick herself to remove him from it anyway. i would rather he was around it at a young age and can have a grasp on the reality of hunting and what really happens when you "shoot something". then again he's my kid i never expected there to be a problem :)

Since Last Time

well since the last time we chatted not too much has happened. ethan is getting cuter and cuter and growing everyday- as are jaden and gunner! marie is so brave- i don't think i want anymore kids- the baby thing scares me! she is a good mom and preston is a good dad- love you guys!

the first weekend in november is always our family's shopping trip- my mom's family- you know all the girls. it was a fun time as usual- marie didn't come with us this year since ethan is still so little- we missed her- but don't blame her for not coming along. we have gone up to traverse city for the past few years and on the way up we always stop at the bakery in grayling! last year while up there we stopped and seen hannah at her work (i think for her it is kind of like play since she loves that stuff so much)- this year we got to see her, dustin, and oakley at there new house- it is so cute and cozy! mom was on a "sneak mission" getting pictures from hannah to put on robin's birthday cake (it was a surprise). by the way happy birthday to robin (tomorrow) and happy birthday to doug (yesterday)!!!!!! oh and happy birthday to me (on tuesday :) )

for thanksgiving this year we are headed to the UP to the yeager cabin- but will be staying at the bovee cabin. i love grandma's dressing (stuffing- whatever) i have not yet found anyone that makes it and has it taste as good as hers. we only go up with "my" family every other year- even on our "off" years grandma saves me some stuffing- she has to sneak it because everyone else feels the same way about it- especially uncle jeff!

some of you might know i kind of like shoes- but i don't really like to pay a lot for them- well i have kind of splurged over the last month- but one pair was cheap and the other was not. i bought a pair of boots at Marshall's in midland- they are black suede-just past my knee high- high heel- with a couple buckles- i love them- but needless to say they don't go with just anything so i had to find a dress to go with them- i did but am still hunting for more- that was my not so cheap purchase. i also just ordered (from www.shoebuy.com) a pair of 6" light up heels- i have been looking for a pair of these since at least may and maybe longer- they are great and believe it or not i can actually walk in them- not flawlessly yet- but i don't walk flawlessly in tennis shoes! and just a little plug for the website i bought them from- they don't charge shipping to you or back to them if you need to send them back- as well they don't charge tax. i bought these shoes to wear in jim and jamie's wedding. yeah some of you are thinking "um are they ok with that?" - they loved them- jamie has actually helped me look for light up shoes a couple times. come to think of it it was jamie that talked me into the tall boots too- i think jamie has a shoes "thing" too but fulfills it through me- i think we will have to have a little chat about this- it's starting to cost me!!! :)

maybe next time i will have a big buck story. since tomorrow is opening day of rifle season / firearms season- whatever you want call it but it's not "the first day of deer season" i HATE when people say that. congrats to al on his iowa 8pt i haven't seen it yet but sounds like a dandy!

well til next time.............

Up, Up & Away

Well it's been awhile again- sorry.
A few things that have happened since my last post:

Katie made Homecoming court!!! Congrats Kate! It is her senior year so there is the opportunity to be Queen- but she doesn't much care about that- she's just having fun with all the other excitement that goes with Homecoming- the float- the car...

Which is the other thing we have ALL been working on; dads '64 Corvette- it has been a lot of work- but A LOT of fun too! It has given us an excuse to spend time together. Mom's been making dinner and we eat right out by the car that way the guys don't have to completely stop working if they don't want to.

We have been bear hunting again- kill season is in full swing! We had some really good chase and even a missed shot but it was a fun trip! Gunner and I went up on Sunday and come home Thursday (I had to work Friday). It's a long drive when Gunner is in the back saying "mommy make it your song" which is Kid Rock's 'All Summer Long', and he would say this over and over again- and to keep him happy- I played it over and over again!

Our latest hurrah was flying in Grandpa Yeager's airplane. Gunner, Bob, and I went up- oh yeah and Grandpa- thought it would be a good idea to take him along :) Marcy went too but as you can see she didn't go up, she just directed air traffic- thanks Marcy! Gunner seem to like it, Bob said he was scared, but I think Bob was the one that was a little on edge. Gunner fell asleep as you can see! At first he said he did not want to go up again- but now his tune has changed a little, he thinks he would like to go up "next time".

Oh yes and let's not forget- Gunner is sleeping in HIS bed all night again. Yeah we battled with that for a little while but he's back into the grove again. Now potty training- I need to get some Cheerios. He doesn't really think he wants to use the big potty (or any potty for that matter), he tells me "maybe tomorrow, not today" it is pretty cute. I don't want this to be too much of a fight if he's not really ready then I will be the "trained" one not him- and I have enough to do- I don't need to chase a kid around and make him pee every 5 minutes!!!

Well that's about it I guess- enjoy the airplane pics!

Ohh Scares Me!!

Well Gunner and I finally made it up or "up, up, up, down, down, down, round-n-round, git gas, and feed the seagulls" as Gunner says. This is how he describes the trip over the bridge, getting off the second exit into St.Ignace after which we always fill up on both gas and lunch (usually). And if you have ever taken the second exit into St.Ignace you will know where the round-n-round comes from. Jesse has been up a few times this year- but Gunner and I have not been with him :)

This trip we did not stop for lunch as we did that as well as get groceries in Gaylord. This time we stopped for gas but continued on. We did not get very far though, we had to make a stop at the Deer Ranch. We left Friday morning with the intention of "taking our time getting there" so I insist we take the time to show Gunner the Deer Ranch. Jesse always says "maybe on the way home" and on the way home he says "well maybe next time". He says that is what his dad always told them about the Deer Ranch and Mystery Spot- I informed him that it was not going to be like that with Gunner- at least not this time :) Yes I took pictures of Gunner at the Deer Ranch- BUT they are on my phone! He did like it- he wasn't really sure about feeding them at first- but did eventually find the fun in it.

Well our trip was not made just to visit the Deer Ranch but more so to bear hunt- chase really! We did do a little of that, didn't really have any good chases though- had a hard time finding tracks. We even had a hard time finding tracks that we seen being made! We seen the bear walk down the side of the road and then cross- he was a ways down- a good 1/2 mile or maybe more so it was hard to tell where exactly he was and the road was not sandy but hard and rocky in most places so finding a track was not easy.

Because we do not have the cabin in Rexton anymore we had to take our trailer (and Rhino) and just find a place in the woods to camp for the weekend. So we stayed on state land near McMillan. It was fun but not the same. Jesse and I took Gunner for a long Rhino ride and while looking for bear tracks we stopped and walked for a little bit and Gunner would say "Here's a bear track", "I found a bear track", every two feet he would move he had "found" a track, so after half a dozen times of that Jesse finally said "you did find one"- Gunner from his crouched down position stood up and said "ohh- scares me!" It was really very cute!!! He also had a good time yelling at Uncle Shane and Aunt Katie's dogs. Oh yes a big thank you to Uncle Shane for extinguishing Gunner! Jesse threw a Coke bottle in the fire and didn't do it's usual hiss and melt- it EXPLODED and sent hot ashes flying everywhere including onto Gunner who thankfully had his back turned to the fire but who was also dressed in fleece from head to toe! Shane was the only to notice he had little "hots" all over his back and was quick to smoother them out! The next day I could see where his hair was singed. Over all we had a pretty good time and found a possible replacement cabin- pray that if it is supposed to happen that it will- seriously!

Well that is it for now- thanks for visiting :)

Told Ya!

See I said I wouldn't be very good at this!

Ok so we went camping again this weekend- Higgins Lake again. It was just as nice and Jesse didn't make any waves with any neighboring campers. Gunner had a good time- always wanting to go for a bike ride. Which means he rides and Jesse and I walk. We went for ice cream both days- good thing we don't live there!

Steven come up and seen us on Saturday and hung out for the evening. And on Sunday evening Denny and Sally come over to say HI (Jesse & I work with Denny out of Grand Rapids).

Our camping weekends are coming to an end. We have a wedding this coming wedding (Jesse's cousin Lindsay) in Manistee, holiday the next weekend, and Casey's wedding the following. Not to mention training season has been upon us for the last month now; and kill season is less than a month away! Bear season won't be the same this year- not having the cabin has really sucked!! But nothing we can do about it now- crazy people sure can make a mess in a hurry!

Well that's it for now, talk to you all soon!
